Eight CNMs and two SNMs met with Heather King of WITN at 5:30 AM on a Tuesday morning during Nurse Midwifery Week.

"We only had 2 minutes but we talked about how we care for women throughout their lifespan and are educated beyond nursing, sit for a board exam and have prescriptive privileges.  We talked about where you can find a midwife….private practice, public health, hospitals, Colleges of Nursing, Schools of Medicine, military institutions and Birthing Centers", explained Becky Bagley, Director Nurse-Midwifery Education Program, East Carolina University.

Back row left to right:  Bob Green, Carolyn Green, Donna Waterman, Michelle Overby, and Tammy Scherer.

"All the CNMs were from Greenville," explains Becky, "except for the 2 from Camp Lejeune who came down the night before to get up so early.  We all then went out to eat breakfast together and had a great social event.  Camp Lejeune and ECU School of medicine are going to collaborate on starting a centering group in each of their sites."

Thanks to all who braved the alarm clock to speak for North Carolina Nurse Midwives! Congratulations and Thank You!
